In 2006, while serving in the U.S. Air Force in Iraq, I regularly visited local villages to connect with nearby families. Seeing how desperately the children needed basic educational materials, I felt a deep pull in my heart to help. I reached out to Mr. Steve Cole, the principal of my alma mater, LaGrange High School (Class of 2004), who rallied his staff to ship boxes of school supplies overseas. Hand-delivering those notebooks and pencils to the children remains one of the most profound honors of my life.
Years later, after separating from the Air Force in 2014 and working as a contractor at the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan, those memories resurfaced vividly. Surrounded by another community facing immense hardship, I realized that initial moment in Iraq wasn't just an isolated effort—it was the spark for something bigger. That realization gave birth to United Shores.
Today, as I serve in the U.S. Navy to complete my military career, my focus extends beyond the uniform to building a global movement. United Shores exists to restore hope, uplift under-served communities, and prove that simple, direct acts of kindness can create lasting change for the children who need it most.
